Discounted ODI tickets for 48 hours
Lynn McConnell - 14 February 2001

For 48 hours from 10am tomorrow cricket fans will be able to buy heavily discounted tickets for the forthcoming National Bank series between New Zealand and Pakistan.

The discount offer will close at 10am on Saturday.

The seats are in nominated areas of the five grounds being used for the series.

Tickets bought in the arrangement will be available for $20 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and children under the age of 16.

New Zealand Cricket's marketing director Peter Dwan said the discount was designed to encourage pre-sales for the series.

"During the past two season, New Zealand Cricket has successfully encouraged an increasing number of fans to pre-book their tickets for major matches.

"This provides an important degree of advance certainty to crowd numbers and income.

"To date this season, we have not been able to achieve this objective.

"This discount ticket offer is designed to significantly increase pre-sales for the Pakistan series and to get the crowds through the turnstiles to support the CLEAR Black Caps," he said.

Dwan added it was hoped the discounting would result in greater numbers and more support for the home team.

Fans also had the benefit of NZC's new refund policy.

NZC has guaranteed a 100% refund if no result is declared over the scheduled day's play and the reserve day for One-Day Internationals.

"This insurance provides important protection for all fans, but particularly for those who pre-purchase, as they have no ability to determine the likely weather conditions for the match," he said.
