Maharashtra crush Gujarat by eight wickets

Maharashtra crushed Gujarat by eight wickets while Baroda and Saurashtra settled for a draw in a high scoring encounter in the West Zone Under-22 league matches which concluded on Saturday.

At the Bhosala Military School Ground in Nasik, Maharashtra opted to bat first and amassed 393 runs. The highlight was the batting of skipper D Jadhav (84) and S Aradhye (96) who shared a second wicket stand of 134 runs. Thereafter K Aphale (73) with the help of some useful partnerships took the score past 300. N Rana was the most successful bowler with 5 for 78. In response, Gujarat were all out for 203, conceding a lead of 190 runs. Stumper P Vora was the top scorer with 46 as Ardhav (4 for 40) and Burkul (4 for 45) ran through the Gujarat line up. Following on, Gujarat fared no better and were bowled out for 232, giving Maharashtra a token target of 43 for a win. Opener S Bhatt was the top scorer with 51. The wickets were shared all round. Adhav was the best bowler in the match returning figures of 7 for 97. Maharashtra hit up the required runs off 9.1 overs while losing just the one wicket that of opener Sathyajit Satbhai (24).
