Bushrangers select 17 year old for Hobart
Victorian Cricket Association - 27 February 2001

Bairnsdale schoolboy Cameron White has been selected to debut for the Victorian Bushrangers in Friday's Pura Cup match against Tasmania in Hobart. Vice-captain Darren Berry is the other inclusion to the side that defeated the Southern Redbacks in Adelaide, returning from a hamstring strain.

White, 17, has had a stunning season for Dandenong in Victorian Premier Cricket, making 462 runs at 33.00 and taking 28 wickets at 18.96 with his leg spin bowling.

"It's a great honour and I'm looking forward to the challenge", White said from his Bairnsdale home today. "I've been in good form for Dandenong and feel confident that I can play good cricket at this level."

Chairman of Selectors Shaun Graf said White added variety and versatility to the Bushrangers team. "Cameron is a very mature young man who we think is capable of playing first-class cricket. He has impressed us in Premier Cricket this season and also by taking five wickets in the second eleven's last match in the ACB Cup competition."

The team is: Paul Reiffel (c), Darren Berry (vc), Jason Arnberger, Matthew Elliott, Matthew Mott, Brad Hodge, Michael Klinger, Ian Harvey, Cameron White, John Davison, Michael Lewis, Mathew Inness.
