Daryll Cullinan is Kent's overseas player for 2001
Kent CCC Media Release - 27 February 2001

Kent County Cricket Club today announced that Daryll Cullinan will be Kent's overseas player for the 2001 season. Cullinan leaves Johannesburg on Wednesday for the West Indies as part of South Africa's tour party and will arrive in Kent at the end of April, immediately after the final Test.

Commenting, the Chairman of Kent County Cricket Club, Carl Openshaw, said: "We are delighted that Daryll has agreed to join Kent as our overseas player for the coming season. The crowded international programme is making it increasingly difficult to secure the services of top class international players for a full season. Daryll has committed himself to playing for Kent from his arrival in April until the end of the season and we are thrilled to have secured the services of a player with such an excellent international reputation."

Kent Captain, Matthew Fleming, said of the appointment: "It is great news that Daryll has decided to join Kent. He has an outstanding reputation on the international circuit and I am sure will contribute greatly to our efforts on the field this coming season. His experience will be invaluable and I know, having spoken to him, that he is most enthusiastic about joining up with us."

Daryll Cullinan said: "The opportunity to represent Kent this season, particularly with its distinguished and proud cricketing name, was one not to be missed. It is my sincere wish and aim to contribute in all possible ways to the continued and future success of the Club."

Cullinan (33), having made his debut for South Africa in 1992, has represented his country in 65 Test Matches and has scored over 4,000 runs at an average of 43.56.
