Wadekar wants ban on playing against Pakistan lifted

Former Indian skipper Ajit Wadekar said in Bhopal on Monday that the Indian Government should lift the ban on cricket matches against Pakistan and added that it would only affect the game by trying to politicise it.

Speaking to Press trust of India (PTI), Wadekar said "It is not good to politicise sports as it affects the game," and added "cricket can bring the two countries closer."

Speaking on the India-Australia series, the former Indian coach said that the present team was strong and it should not lose an opportunity to win the home series. "The Indian batting trio - Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid - should fetch as many runs as they can since it would be vital for the home team's victory."

Wisden halts the presses to incorporate section on Bradman

John Wisden and Co., the publishers of the annual Wicket Cricket Almanac have decided to halt the production of the latest edition in view of the passing away of Sir Donald Bradman to accommodate a section dedicated to the Australian cricketing icon In a statement issued in London on Monday, the publishers said "Printing has now been stopped and a new version will appear with a section dedicated to one of the true greats of the game." Wisden which is set to be published on April 6, had already reached the printing stage but the publishers decided to halt the presses so that Bradman's death and a tribute could be included.

Hailed as the favourite son of Australia, Sir Donald Bradman died peacefully in is sleep at his residence in Adelaide on Sunday morning.
