James has knee operation
Andrew Hignell - 8 February 2001

Glamorgan have suffered their first injury of 2001 with Steve James damaging the cartilage in his left knee during a fitness coaching session. The skipper underwent an operation yesterday to repair the damage, and he is confident of being back in full training within a month.

"We were doing a bit of speed and agility stuff over small hurdles," James said. "I just went over one and felt something go in the back of my knee. It turned out it was a cartilage gone so I went to see the club`s surgeon John Fairclough quite quickly and he got me in on Wednesday for a quick operation.

"I think the knee needed a bit of cleaning out but it's no major drama, it should be fit within a month at the most. Pre-season starts on March 1st and I'll be there. I may not be in full training the first couple of days but I shouldn't miss out on too much - there's no chance of me missing any cricket."
