BCCI Working Committee meeting in Delhi on January 22
3 January 2001

The verdict of the Disciplinary Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India on the Punjab Cricket Association, which has gone to court accusing it of neglect, will be announced at its Working Committee meeting in New Delhi on January 22.

The PCA and its President IS Bindra, himself a former Board chief, have been at loggerheads with the parent body for some time over various issues concerning the game and its administration.

The Working Committee will also approve the rotation policy for the allotment of venues for international matches to be played in the country.

It will 'take on record' the Disciplinary Committee's decision to slap life bans on Mohd Azharuddin and Ajay Sharma and five year suspensions on Ajay Jadeja, Manoj Prabhakar and former physio Ali Irani, according to the agenda.

The Indian cricket team's next major assignment - against Australia at home - will be approved. India is to host the Australians in February-April for a series of three Tests and five one-day internationals. The itinerary will be finalised by the Programmes and Fixtures Committee later this week in Mumbai and will be approved by the Working Committee.

The Indian team's manager for the series against Australia will also be appointed at the meeting. The agenda also includes ratification of New Zealander John Wright's appointment as national coach for a period of one year.
