Delhi make semifinal date with Hyderabad

Delhi entered the semifinals of the Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy after securing a 54 run first innings lead on the final day of their quarterfinal against Mumbai at the East Calcutta District Sports Council Ground on Monday. Delhi will meet Hyderabad in the semifinals starting in Calcutta on Tuesday.

Resuming at the overnight score of 206/4 on the third day in reply to Mumbai's 328, Delhi slumped to 282/7 before the eighth wicket pair of Aditya Jain and Sumit Kapoor launched a recovery. In the course of a stubborn 54-run stand they helped Delhi to the first innings lead. Delhi closed at 382 with Kapoor finishing unbeaten on 55. With the issue settled, Mumbai progressed to 78/2 off 30 overs in their second innings before the match became history.
