Sri Lanka’s first ever National Cricket Coaching Day
BCCSL - 13 January 2001

450 young cricketers from 22 districts in Sri Lanka will converge on Khettarama Stadium to participate in a Day/Night high intensity Cricket Coaching Camp conducted by the National Development Centre of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka tomorrow (13th January 2001).

The young cricketers including those from the National Development Squad's under 19, 17 and under 15 teams will be put through their paces by 25 qualified National Coaches who will help develop and enhance the players skills at all levels. The Coaching programme will be further heightened by the use of giant video screens that will feature demonstrations of different aspects of the game.

A mini-Singha Cricket Tournament played by 250 children will provide further entertainment and excitement to the programme. This is the first of such coaching programmes to be conducted by the National Development Centre and will undoubtedly prove to be a major step in developing the game and in enhancing the skills of the country's up and coming cricketers. The NDC plans to make this coaching programme an annual event, which would also expose the many enthusiastic and talented outstation cricketers to tried and tested international coaching methods, they would not normally have recourse to.

The festive air and the excitement of participating in a Day/Night Coaching Camp would also prove to be a stimulating and exciting learning experience.

The Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka invites all media personal both of the print and electronic field to be a part of this special event - your publicity and support for the development of Sri Lanka cricket is very much appreciated.

This event provides the Media with an opportunity of seeing the Sri Lanka's cricketing future as well as with the chance to interact with all the BCCSL coaches.

We also look forward to your company at dinner after the closing ceremony.
