Dawn Watchful 200 by Imran, rapid 105 by Humayun
17 January 2001

Opener Imran Farhat hit a double century and his elder brother Humayun Farhat struck a hurricane century which helped Lahore Blues to pile up 566 for nine wickets in the first innings against Bahawalpur on the penultimate day of their Quaid- i-Azam Trophy match at the LCCA ground on Tuesday.

When bad light forced an early closure with five overs still to be bowled, Test cricketer Mushtaq Ahmad (10) and Adnan Khan (1) were at the crease. Earlier in the day, heavy fog had prevented the start of play until 1.15pm.

Imran Farhat, who started today at 161 in his team's 281 for three, was caught at the wickets off Zeeshan Khalid but not before he had scored 200.

His epic five hours and 22 minutes vigil at the crease contained 26 boundaries and one six off 228 deliveries.

Pakistan hopeful and promising wicketkeeper/batsman Humayun struck a breezy 105 off just 67 deliveries. His quickfire knock included 15 boundaries and a six. Humayun was associated in a 117-run eighth wicket partnership with Faisal Ashraf (20).

Test reject Mohammad Husain contributed a rapid 69 with the help of eight fours. He faced 81 balls.

Zeeshan finished as the pick of Bahawalpur bowlers with five for 139 from 35 overs. Inam-ul-Haq also had a good day behind the wickets accounting for five batsmen.

Besides Zeeshan Khalid, the other key bowler was paceman Kamran Husain who took two wickets for 167 runs.
