Dawn PCB recovers Rs 900,000 from players
18 January 2001

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recovered Rs 900,000 in fines from five players as per the recommendation of Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum.

A spokesman of the PCB said from Lahore that the fines, implemented eight months ago, were deducted from players last year's earnings

Rupees 300,000 each were deducted from the incomes of Wasim Akram and Mushtaq Ahmad while Rs 100,000 each were deducted from the fee of Saeed Anwar, Waqar Younis and Inzamam-ul-Haq.

To recover the fines from Ata-ur-Rehman and Akram Raza, Rs 100,000 each, the PCB were contemplating to deduct from their provident fund.

Since the case of Salim Malik was with the court of law, the deduction of fine has been held back until the verdict by the Lahore High Court.
