Gloucestershire chief executive quits to join football club
Staff and agencies - 18 January 2001

Gloucestershire's chief executive Colin Sexstone is to leave the club in early March to become chief executive of Bristol City Football Club.

Alan Haines, the vice-chairman of Gloucestershire, said: "Naturally, we are extremely sorry to lose Colin who has contributed an enormous amount to our success of the last few years.

"We wish him the very best of luck in meeting this new challenge, thank him for all he has done and particularly for leaving behind a professional organisation which we are confident can carry the club forward to even greater achievements."

Sexstone said: "I have had a wonderful five years at Gloucestershire and my decision to leave was a very hard one.

"We have built up a strong playing side, backed up by an equally strong and totally committed staff and I am very confident that they will continue to take the club forward.

"However, the offer to join Bristol City as their new chief executive is an outstanding opportunity and a challenge which I will relish. I look forward to helping the City fulfill their undoubted potential."
