Madhavan to summon more cricketers for inquiry

The president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), AC Muthiah said in Chennai on Thursday that the Board's Anti-Corruption Commissioner K Madhavan would summon more cricketers to appear before the commission in connection with the match fixing inquiry.

Speaking to reporters after the Board's disciplinary committee had exonerated Nikhil Chopra, Muthiah said that there still existed some grey areas in the inquiry, including the Ahmedabad Test against New Zealand in 1999 where India did not impose a follow-on despite being in a position to do so.

Muthiah said "Madhavan wants to have some more people summoned as there are some grey areas, and after the follow up is done, he would submit his report before January 31." Muthiah added that the Working Committee would meet in February to take a decision on the issue.

Kumble's injury a shock for Indian cricket, feels Borde

The chairman of the selection committee, Chandu Borde on Thursday in Surat expressed shock over the non-availability of Anil Kumble for the forthcoming Australia's tour to India. Borde said "it is a shock for Indian cricket to miss the services of Anil Kumble"

Speaking to the media after the first day's play of the Duleep Trophy match featuring West and South Zone, Borde said that the entire selection committee has decided to personally watch all the Duleep Trophy matches as it would help them in selecting a balanced team for the forthcoming home series against the Australians.

Borde dwelled on various issues including Test cricketers skipping domestic matches. He said that they have to play at least two matches as their individual performance would be the prime factor in selecting the Indian team.
