22 January 2001

Srinivas Venkatraghavan will officiate the first of the three-match Test series between India and Australia in Mumbai, while AV Jayaprakash and SK Bansal were named for the remaining two by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in New Delhi on Sunday.

The International Cricket Council is yet to appoint its umpires for the series.

Jayaprakash will officiate the second Test in Chennai from March 11 to 15, while Bansal will stand at the Eden Gardens in Calcutta for the third Test from March 18 to 22, BCCI joint secretary Jyoti Bajpai told PTI.

Mumbai's Wankhede stadium will be the venue for the first Test from February 27 to March 3.
