Dawn Probables, academy squads named
22 January 2001

LAHORE,Jan21:The nationalselection committee has announced 19 probables for the Pakistan team who will play five one-daymatch series against the PCB Academy probables starting from Jan 26 with the first game here at Gaddafi Stadium.

The selectors, chairman Wasim Bari and members Sikander Bakht and Shafiq Ahmed, also picked two academy teams, namely Lahore Tigers and Lahore Panthers, comprising 12 players each for the first two matches. The second match is scheduled for Jan 27 here.

Pakistan squad for the tour of New Zealand will be finalized at the conclusion of the series on Feb 2.

All Pakistan probables, less those busy in the ongoing Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy final at Karachi, will report at the Qadhafi Stadium on Jan 22 at 10 a.m. Theplayers will receive instructions from their coach Javed Miandad and will be tested by the PCB medical team. Other players will reach Lahore on Jan 24.

The academy teams will report to manager-cum-coach Mohsin Kamal on Jan 25 at 3 p.m.

Pakistan probables: Saeed Anwar, Imran Nazir, Salim Elahi, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Yousuf Youhana, ShahidAfridi, Moin Khan, WasimAkram, Abdur Razzaq,WaqarYounis,Saqlain Mushtaq,ShoaibAkhtar,Azhar Mahmood, Mushtaq Ahmed, Yasir Arafat, Fazle Akbar, FaisalIqbal, Younis Khan and Arshad Khan.

Lahore Tigers: Imran Farhat, Saeed Anwar Jr, ImranAbbas, Bazid Khan (captain), Misbah-ul-Haq, Kamran Akmal (wicket-keeper), Shoaib Malik, Zahid Saeed, Kashif Raza, Jaffer Nazir and IrfanFazil. 12th man: Mohammad Hafeez.

Lahore Panthers: Taufiq Umar, Mohammad Ramzan, Faisal Iqbal (captain), Qaiser Abbas, Naved Latif, Humayun Farhat (wicket-keeper), Saad Janjua, Shabbir Ahmed, Waqar Ahmed, Mubashir Nazir and Shafiq Ahmed. 12th man: Shahid Yousuf.
