Rookie named for final
Queensland Cricket - 25 January 2001

The Konica Queensland Fire have thrust rookie pace bowler Leteysha Randall into their squad for the Women's National Cricket League Finals series against NSW tomorrow.

Randall, 18, a right-arm fast bowler from Biggenden, was named today in the Fire squad of 13 to contest the best-of-three match Finals series against defending champions NSW at Bankstown Oval starting tomorrow.

A member of the Queensland Academy Of Sport cricket squad, Randall was Queensland's leading wicket-taker at the national Under-19 championships in Adelaide earlier in the month.

The Fire will make their first appearance in the WNCL Finals since the system was introduced in 1996-97. Queensland have never played in a national championship final at senior level.

NSW have won the past four championships in a row and finished as minor premiers this season, losing just one match to Queensland.

The Fire team traveled to Sydney today and will stay at the Bankstown Travelodge. The teams meet tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday if required.
