Katich returns to Warriors line-up
Western Australia Cricket Association - 25 January 2001

The Western Warriors welcome back gun batsman Simon Katich for the all-important Mercantile Mutual Cup day clash with the Tasmanian Tigers at the WACA Ground tomorrow, Thursday 26 January 2001.

Young all-rounder Marcus North makes way for Katich, who missed WA's past two one-day matches while he made his one-day international debut. The 25-year-old left hander sits fifth on this year's MMC batting averages with 192 runs @ 64.00 with three half centuries from three innings.

A pre-match Australia Day ceremony will commence at 9.45am and a parade of past and future WA champions will take place during the change of innings.

WA greats Ian Brayshaw, John Inverarity, Ken Macleay and Mike Veletta will be honoured in a motorcade around the ground as players to have represented WA in 100 or more first-class matches. Joining the parade in MGs supplied by the WA MGTC Car Club are stars of the future, the 2000-01 BGC WA under-17s and 19s.

  • Please note: this match is a DAY clash. The WACA urges patrons to enjoy a day at the cricket before the Australia Day sky show on the river.
