A Delhi Court today rejected former Indian cricketer Manoj Prabhakar's plea for bail and sent him to a day's transit remand to facilitate his production before a magistrate at Haldwani, after he was arrested by Uttaranchal Police here in connection with a fraud and cheating case.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) VK Maheshwari, while accepting the Uttaranchal police plea for transit remand of Prabhakar, said he should be produced tomorrow before Haldwani Judicial Magistrate Ashok Kumar, who had issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him on May 11.

Prabhakar sought interim bail so that he could move the Uttaranchal High Court against the issuance of the NBW. The ACMM rejected Prabhakar's plea for interim bail after the prosecution counsel said the issue before the court today was limited to his transit remand and not the merit of the case.

Prabhakar's counsel Rajesh Batra sought interim bail for his client on the ground that he had already been granted bail in a related case by Uttaranchal High Court earlier.

Uttaranchal police arrested Prabhakar from his office at Malviya Nagar in South Delhi this morning, while executing the NBW issued in connection with chit fund company APACE Investment Ltd case. The police allege that Prabhakar as director of the company had defrauded and cheated people while it accepted deposits from them.

Prabhakar, while coming out ot the court, said "I am not involved in the case and I have nothing to do with APACE. I am not involved in any scam whatsoever."
