Bindra against discretion in rotational policy
9 July 2001

Punjab Cricket Association president IS Bindra on Sunday expressed strong reservations against discretion in the rotational policy of the Indian Cricket Board while allocating matches to various associations saying it would set a "wrong precedent".

Maintaining that nobody should have discretion in tinkering with rotational policy, Bindra said the allocation of matches to various state associations should be strictly on a rotation basis.

"As a result of discretion in the rotational policy of the Board, the PCA (Punjab Cricket Association) was denied a match between India and Zimbabwe in 2000", Bindra told reporters in Mohali.

Expressing happiness over the allotment of the first Test match between England and India to the PCA, he said the pitch for the match would be laid according to the requirement of the Pitches Committee of the BCCI. The outfield of the PCA would be re-laid for the Test match scheduled for December 3-7, Bindra said.
