In keeping with an earlier decision to restructure the organization, the WICB today announced two new appointments at its secretariat in Antigua. These appointments are in keeping with the Board's stated objective "to meet the challenges of developing and sustaining a successful future for West Indies Cricket."

The new appointments which were announced today, fill the recently created positions of Chief Cricket Operations Officer and Chief Cricket Development Officer. These positions have been taken up by Michael Hall, formerly of Jamaica and Dr. Michael Seepersaud, formerly of Guyana respectively.

Mr. Hall joined the WICB on 11 July, and brings his years of experience in sports development and business to the WICB, having been General Manager of the Sports Development Foundation in his homeland Jamaica.

Meanwhile, Dr. Seepersaud's appointment took effect from 1 July. Dr. Seepersaud brings his vast experience in the area of project and programme management, having worked on projects funded by the Inter-American Development Bank, the Caribbean Development Bank, the United States Agency for International Development and the European Commission.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Hall said that he was "committed to working with all the stakeholders of West Indies cricket," and expressed his desire to play his role in "the common goal of returning West Indies cricket to its position of former dominance."

Speaking on his appointment, Dr. Seepersaud said his approach will be "interactive and transparent," and pledged "that activities to be undertaken in pursuance of the strategic development plan are informed by territorial boards and other stakeholders."

Continuing to comment on his new appointment, Dr. Seepersaud said that he "anticipate good co-operation and support from territorial boards, the WICB and the Headquarters team. I want to be part of a working, effective and efficient team and I intend to make a positive contribution to the development of this team."

Hall replaces Executive Secretary, Andrew Sealy, whose position was made redundant. Dr. Seepersaud's position has been established as part of the WICB's restructuring and covers the portfolio of former Director of Coaching Reg Scarlett.

The following key positions remain open (i) Company Secretary, who will head the Human Resources and Administration Team, (ii) Web Manager and Merchandise Manager, (iii) Finance and (iv) Communications Officer.

As part of his portfolio, the Chief Cricket Development Officer would have responsibility for the continued growth and improvement of standards of cricket for adults and children at all levels in the various territories. This would include women's cricket, softball and development of facilities.

Meanwhile, the post of Chief Cricket Operations Officer was being created with a development focus to ensure that all arrangements are successfully made for expanded and highly competitive regional competitions in addition to international home and away tournaments.

The WICB is expected to name more appointments in an effort to strengthen and improve its "corporate governance, as well as services to and relations with the members of the WICB, staff, players and other stakeholders."
