Somerset seconds in command at Hastings
Richard Walsh - 26 July 2001

Somerset Seconds ended the second day of their championship match against Sussex in a commanding position.

After posting a daunting 572/7, they had the home side reeling on 105/9 by close of play.

A feature of the Somerset innings was an 8th wicket partnership of 222, just five runs short of a second eleven record, between Graham Rose who finished not out and James Knott who was unbeaten on 126.

Sussex were soon in trouble against a strong Somerset attack, with the wickets being shared between Pete Trago 3 for 15, Jason Kerr 2 for 24 and Matt Bulbeck 2 for 42.
