National Academy clinch 25-run victory against Pakistan Juniors

National Academy won the first of their series of three 40-over matches against Pakistan Juniors by 25 runs at the newly built Multan Stadium on Thursday.

The 30,000-capacity Multan Stadium is the venue of the forthcoming test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in the Asian Test Championship. The matches will enable authorities to test the newly laid pitches and other facilities prior to the test match.

Batting first, Pakistan Academy scored 219 runs. Faisal Khan, with 51, was the top scorer. Kamran Akmal (32) Taufiq Umar (26) and Naumanullah (24) were other principle scorers.

Kamran Younis (2/35) Azhar Ali (2/35) and Junaid Zia (1/36) were the main wicket takers.

Pakistan Juniors notched up 194 for 7 in the allotted 40 overs. Salman Butt played a solid knock of 55, Khaqan Arsal made 43 in Pakistan Juniors innings. Qaisar Abbas claimed 2 for 28 and Mansur Amjad 3/33 to halt the Juniors 25 runs short of the target.
