Nottinghamshire cricket officials said they won't re-deploy plastic fencing for the Third Test between England and Australia starting Thursday at Trent Bridge.

Temporary fencing was used at a One-Day International between Australia and Pakistan last month to prevent pitch invasions that marred earlier matches in the series. A steward at Leeds damaged his spleen and broke two ribs when fans ran onto the playing surface.

"We do a risk assessment before each match, in conjunction with the police, and it was felt the fencing wouldn't be required," said David Collier, Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club's chief executive.

There were no pitch invasions during the first two Tests at Edgbaston, Birmingham, and Lord's in London. England, 2-0 down in the five-match series, must win at Trent Bridge to have a chance of regaining the Ashes they lost in 1989.
