A powerful striker of the ball with a rare combination of strength, timing and a very good eye. "Pow Pow" was labelled a one-day cricketer because he did not have the perfect technique to accompany his power, and did not always get his feet in the right position, especially defensively. His poor shot-selection has been his downfall. An agile and excellent fielder, he is quick across the ground and has good hands. He has potential as an offspinner, but not enough of this has been used. A sensible and intelligent young man with a great work ethic, Ricardo Powell might yet develop into another great West Indian blaster. Vaneisa Baksh
