Waugh breaks the 9000 barrier Wisden CricInfo staff - July 6, 2001
Australia's captain Steve Waugh today became only the third batsman to score 9000 Test runs. Waugh, 36 and playing in his 136th match, passed the landmark when he reached 35 on the second morning of the first Test at Edgbaston. The only batsmen to score more runs in Tests are Allan Border of Australia (11,174 runs in 156 matches) and India's Sunil Gavaskar (10,122 in 125). © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
