Chris Kuggeleijn resigns from State Northern Knights coaching role
Northern Districts Cricket Association - 20 June 2001

Former New Zealand Cricket Coach of the Year Chris Kuggeleijn today resigned from his role as coach of the State Northern knights to resume a career in teaching.

Appointed in 1996, Kuggeleijn enjoyed a successful tenure with the team. In the 1997/98 season the State Northern Knights won both the Max League and the Shell Cup while also making the final of the Shell Trophy. The following season Kuggeleijn and the Knights went one step further in taking out the Shell Trophy.

"Chris was a very good tactical coach who enjoyed considerable success in his various roles at Northern Districts," said chief executive officer John Turkington.

"During his time in charge of the men's first team, that team finished in the top three in the Shell Cup and Trophy in each season. We hope Chris can continue to contribute to the development of cricket in some role in the future. We wish him all the best as he resumes his career in teaching."
