Anderson considers going to members on ground move
Richard Walsh - 26 June 2001

Following his comments regarding the possible relocation of Somerset County Cricket Club to a new out of town site Chief Executive made the following statement at The County Ground on Tuesday.

"As a result of the meeting with the Chief Planning Officer, Somerset County Cricket Club has requested that the planners try to identify a suitable relocation site for the club."

Mr Anderson went on: "The position of the council has always been neutral and until they knew whether or not the club wished to move they would not identify a suitable site. The Somerset strategy has been that there is no point in going to the members until we know where we might be moving to if a buyer could be found."

The Chief Executive concluded: "What I am now thinking of suggesting is that we go to the members offering them the same deal that was available four years ago and asking them if they would be prepared to move should it become available again."
