After taking three wickets for 70 in his first Test in 1994-95, Kerry Walmsley became one of the walking wounded fast medium-bowlers whose back did not stand the strain. A tall, athletic man, Walmsley showed high promise at the start, was drafted late into the New Zealand team in South Africa for one Test, but slipped out of sight during the home season. Don Cameron
