Tough draw for CD in Perth tournament
Lynn McConnell - 1 March 2001

Central Districts face a tough schedule if they make the final of the Global One-Day provincial cricket tournament in Perth from March 29-April 4.

Central Districts (CD) won the right to play in the tournament when winning the Shell Cup series in January.

On the tournament's opening day CD will play the South African champions KwaZulu Natal Dolphins.

On Friday, March 30, Mumbai from India will play Western Warriors with Western Warriors backing up against KwaZulu Natal on Saturday, March 31.

Mumbai and KwaZulu Natal will play on Sunday, April 1 with Western Warriors playing CD on Monday, April 2 followed by a game with Mumbai the next day.

Should CD make it through it would then play the final on Wednesday, April 4.

All games in the tournament will be from 2.30pm until 10.15pm.

Television coverage has been secured in Australia and will be shown in New Zealand on Sky Sport.

CD are sending a team of 12 to contest the tournament and they will leave on Monday, March 26.

Leicestershire professional Ben Smith who is returning home to England next week is to fly out from England to join the team for the tournament in Perth.
