Muthiah meets Sports Minister for Sharjah tour clearance
4 March 2001

The president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India AC Muthiah on Saturday met Sports Minister Uma Bharti in New Delhi to discuss apart from other things, the Government's clearance to the Indian team for the Sharjah series to be held in April in which Pakistan and Sri Lanka are taking part.

Muthiah told the media that the minister had assured him that the government would take a decision soon and apprise him of it. "She said she will let me know soon," Muthiah said, who added that the charity match planned between the Indian and Australian teams that played the tied Chennai Test in 1986 will go ahead as scheduled.
