PCB Advisory Council meeting decisions
PCB - 11 March 2001

The PCB Advisory Council meeting extended over two days i.e., 10th and 11th March 2001, concluded today at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. This meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia. Following decisions were made:

1. In principle it was decided that various Committees will be formed for example Rules Committee, Domestic Disciplinary Committee, Development Committee etc., to deal with their specific subjects. The composition of these committees will be decided later on.

2. The Chief Coach Mr. Mudassar Nazar gave presentation on broad outlines of working of Cricket Academy. This Academy will restart functioning from the first week of May 2001. Prominent players from home and abroad will be invited to lecture and coach the Academy players.

3. Various presentations on design of Academy building were given. The building will have a capacity to house around 40 players and 14 officials and coaches. It will have all training facilities, to include gym, swimming pool, indoor and outdoor nets, audio/video room.

4. It was decided to induct foreign players like Jonty Rhodes to give valuable tips on art of fielding. PCB is already in touch with South African Cricket Board in this regard. His exact programme will be made later subject to availability.

5. PCB Council expressed satisfaction over performance of junior players who have recently gone to New Zealand. Special note was taken of the good attitude, commitment and application.

6. The Council expressed disappointment at the large number of injury problems faced by the Pakistan Cricket team in New Zealand and hoped that the cricketers will fulfill their responsibility to keep themselves fit.

7. Performance based fee structure for players was also discussed in which fee was related to performance and results. This was decided in principle. More details will be worked out in due course.

8. Mr. Waqar Hasan was inducted as new member of Advisory Council. He replaces Mr. Nasim-ul-Ghani who resigned citing domestic reasons.

9. More organizational changes will take place at the PCB which will be made known by Chairman PCB, later on.

10. Abdur Razzaq is scheduled to travel back to Pakistan shortly on account of food poisoning. He was shown to top doctors in New Zealand, who have advised change of atmosphere and 10 days rest. Fast bowler Mohammad Akram is being sent as his replacement.

11. The idea to hold an annual dinner, in which all Test players will be invited was approved. The idea is to honour them and use it as a platform to offer awards on an annual basis, like "player of the year award" etc. A suitable system will be worked out.
