Amol Muzumdar to lead Mumbai
17 March 2001

Mumbai middle-order batsman Amol Muzumdar will lead Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final against Punjab at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from March 20 to 24. The 26-year-old Muzumdar will lead last year's champions in the absence of Sameer Dighe who is on national duty following an injury to Nayan Mongia. Dighe has been flown in as a replacement.

Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary Mayank Khandwala said that Amol Rane, allrounder Robin Morris and Amit Dani would replace Dighe, leg spinner Sairaj Bahutule and left arm spinner Nilesh Kulkarni respectively, in the Mumbai team. Bahutule, Kulkarni and Dighe, along with batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, would be on duty for the Indian team at Chennai from tomorrow.

The team: Amol Muzumdar (capt), Wasim Jaffer, Jatin Paranjape, Vinod Kambli, Ramesh Powar, Paras Mhambrey, Santosh Saxena, Sriram Kannan, Kunal More, Vishal Tawde, Rajesh Pawar, Robin Morris, Amol Rane (wk), Amit Dani and S Mane. Coach: Ashok Mankad.
