ACB Symonds passed fit to tour India
Australian Cricket Board - 20 March 2001

Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds has been passed fit and will travel to India tomorrow (Wednesday 21 March) for the five-game one-day international tournament against India.

Symonds had a final fitness test on his right shoulder today at Allan Border Field in Brisbane. He batted, bowled and fielded in front of Queensland Cricket medical officer Simon Carter and Chairman of the Australian Cricket Board's National Selection Panel, Trevor Hohns.

The right-hand batsman and right-arm bowler recovered well from yesterday's preliminary fitness session and felt the shoulder had improved overnight.

Symonds incurred a grade one AC joint sprain when packing his cricket gear on Friday 16 March.

He will join up with his one-day international team mates in Chennai, ahead of the one-day international series.

The tournament begins in Bangalore on 25 March. The players then move to Pune for the second game (28 March), followed by Indore (31 March), Visakapatnam (3 April) and Goa (6 April).
