Scan shows Daniel Vettori did not have a stress fracture
New Zealand Cricket - 23 March 2001

The New Zealand Cricket medical panel has today received the good news that Daniel Vettori has not suffered a recurrence of the stress fracture to his lower back.

Results of a bone scan earlier today have revealed no fracture. It is believed that the pain and discomfort he suffered following the one-day series against Pakistan was due to mechanical stress and there was no injury to the bone.

New Zealand Cricket player coordinator Gilbert Enoka said the results of the scan are good news for Daniel's longer term recovery.

Vettori will continue with his progressive loading programme which should see him resume full ODI and Test match duties for the next Series.

"The medical panel, in discussions with Daniel, feel the Test match next week would expose Daniel to unacceptable risk given the sudden increase in the number of overs he would be required to bowl. He will continue to increase his bowling loads over coming weeks," Enoka said.
