Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq was not happy that his first experience in the job resulted in a record-breaking innings and 185-run loss for his side.

It had been very hard to come back after a disappointing first innings (104) and when the opposition had scored more than 400 runs.

"Some of our batsmen played quite rash shots and to come back from that is very difficult," he said.

Inzamam admitted New Zealand had played very well in all departments during the match at Hamilton.

The loss of full-time captain Moin Khan to a knee injury, the absence of fast bowler Mohammad Sami due to a leg injury and the foot injury suffered by second Test double century maker Yousuf Youhana during a warm-up football game before the Test had not helped the side.

"It was definitely not a good Test for us, especially after losing the one-day series 3-2 and being one-up coming here," he said.

"The major difference was the New Zealand bowling was doing very well and that Bell (Matthew) and Richardson (Mark) were performing very well. If we had got them early then it might have been different," he said.
