Crofty breaks Test wicket record
Andrew Hignell - 16 March 2001

Today`s play in the Third Test match in Sri Lanka saw Robert Croft break Jeff Jones` record for the most number of wickets taken by a Glamorgan bowler in Test cricket for England.

When Robert took the wicket of T.M. Dilshan in Sri Lanka`s first innings, it was his 45th in England colours, thereby breaking Jeff Jones` record of 44 achieved in 15 Tests between 1963/64 and 1967/68.

In all, Croft recorded figures of 4-56 as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 241, taking his tally in Tests for England to 47, and later in the match, the off-spinner could well become the first Glamorgan bowler to take 50 wickets in Tests for England.
