Kent to stage inaugural open day
Media Release - 1 May 2001

Kent County Cricket Club has announced that it will be holding its inaugural Open Day on Saturday 12 May 2001. The day marks the start of the three-day Vodafone Challenge Match against the Pakistan Touring Team and admission will be FREE to all, although children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Channel 4 will be broadcasting live from the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury, between 10-11am and it is hoped that England captain Nasser Hussain will be joining Channel 4 regulars Mark Nicholas and Richie Benaud.

Among a host of other attractions planned is the opportunity to be photographed with the CricInfo Championship Trophy, the Norwich Union League Trophy, the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy and the Benson & Hedges Cup. There is also the chance to win Dean Headley's autographed Norwich Union League shirt and take part in a question-and-answer session with Kent coaching advisor John Inverarity, overseas star Daryll Cullinan and skipper Matthew Fleming.

"Having recently launched Kent Cricket in the Community, this is another opportunity for the Club to demonstrate its desire to get closer to its existing supporter base, while at the same time encouraging more people to actively support their County Cricket Club," said head of marketing, Jon Fordham. "Everyone coming to the St Lawrence Ground on 12 May is guaranteed a fantastic day out."
