The CBI on Wednesday moved the Delhi High Court seeking to implead itself as party in a case filed by cricketer Ajay Jadeja for quashing of a five-year ban on him and government notice for return of Arjuna award.

Justice Vijendar Jain admitted the CBI application after its counsel Maninder Singh said that a series of allegations had been raised by Jadeja in his petition against the agency which had probed match- fixing allegations against cricketer.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had imposed a five- year ban on Jadeja and Manoj Prabhakar and a life ban on former captain Mohammed Azharuddin and Ajay Sharma for their alleged involvement in the match-fixing scandal.

The Union Ministry of Sports had issued notices to Jadeja, Azharuddin and Prabhakar seeking their explanation why the Arjuna Awards given to them be not taken back following their indictment by the CBI in the match-fixing scandal.

Jadeja had challenged the BCCI ban order as well as the government notice for return of the Arjuna award. Azharuddin had also filed a similar petition in a Hyderabad court challenging the BCCI action against him.

Justice Jain fixed the matter for arguments and final disposal on July 11.
