Foundation Cricket Club 1(FCC1) retained the Lagos League by defeating GCI Old Boys by 7 wickets.

With this victory the team has won the championship three times consecutively and is undisputedly the lead team in Lagos.

Hard-fighting GCI Old Boys would have to re-plan their strategy for next season; however credit should be given to them for the manner they reached the final match this season; they look sure bets to provide a strong challenge in future.

GCI won the toss elected to bat and scored 183 runs for 7 wickets in their innings with Tayo Okusanya's 58 lifting them. Seye Fadahunsi provided some excitement towards the end of the innings with some well-struck boundaries including a six off Dipo Idowu. His was the last wicket to fall with the very last ball and his contribution of 31 runs was quite handy at the time.

The total proved inadequate for an FCC side whose batting strength in the local scene is quite formidable and so Wale Adeoye's 52 provided the fulcrum for the response while Dotun Olatunji scored 34 and Kofi Sagoe 28.

George Wiltshire playing his last competitive game scored the winning run after a playing career spanning over 15 years during which he represented Lagos State, Nigeria and West Africa.

GCI missed two of their youngsters Tope Olayinka and Kunle Adegbola who had to appear for their schools in a youth competition holding on the same day. Perhaps they will have their chance next season if GCI maintains their form
