National Cricket Academy gets off into full swing
Pakistan Cricket Board - 18 May 2001

National Cricket Academy, which was inaugurated on May 14, 2001 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore is now functioning in full swing.

NCA is headed by former Test cricketer Mudassar Nazar, being the Chief Coach and he is being assisted by Ali Zia (Batting) and Mohsin Kamal (Bowling) as coaches. The selected players at the Academy are undergoing an intensive coaching and training programme in two daily sessions. The morning and evening sessions are being held from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. respectively. The schedule also includes physical exercise, aerobics, weight training and modern day batting, bowling and fielding drills. Beside these lectures on different aspects of the game are also being delivered by former Test Cricketers.

A one hour lecture was delivered by former Test Umpire Khizer Hayat at NCA yesterday on the "Rules on the game". Similar lectures by medical experts in their relevant fields are also being delivered time to time during the three months term of the course. In order to enhance the expressions and to impart basics of English language, special classes will also be conducted on regular basis for the trainees of the National Cricket Academy.
