Nash a chance for first Test against Bangladesh
Don Cameron - 28 November 2001

Injured New Zealand medium-fast bowler Dion Nash seems on target to be fit for the first Test against Bangladesh at Hamilton on December 18-22.

Nash was taken out of the present New Zealand tour of Australia with strained stomach muscles suffered in the first Test at the Gabba.

"Evidently it was quite a serious injury, the muscles torn," said Nash. "However, my recovery has been steady.

"I was thinking about playing club cricket this coming weekend, but decided to give the muscle a little more time and will play for my club the following week.

"Then I would be looking at playing for Auckland against Bangladesh in the four-dayer from December 12-15."

Nash felt that if he survived the Auckland-Bangladesh match without any further injury trouble he could be considered for the Test the following week at WestpacTrust Park in Hamilton.
