Jayasuriya goes past 7000
Wisden CricInfo staff - November 2, 2001

When he reached 29, Sanath Jayasuriya became the third Sri Lankan (after Aravinda de Silva and Arjuna Ranatunga) and the 14th person in all to make 7000 one-day runs. Jayasuriya is playing in his 246th match. Inzamam-ul-Haq is playing in his 250th ODI. He is the fourth Pakistan to do so, after Wasim Akram, Salim Malik and Ijaz Ahmed, and the 10th in all.

Naved Latif and Inzamam's third-wicket partnership of 219 is Pakistan's highest for any wicket in one-dayers against Sri Lanka, beating the previous best of 204, by Inzamam and Salim Malik for the second wicket at Rawalpindi in 1991-92, and by Saeed Anwar and Rameez Raja for the first at Sharjah in 1992-93.
