Wright called to account
Wisden CricInfo staff - November 9, 2001

Jagmohan Dalmiya, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, has said that India's coach John Wright and his management team would be asked to explain the side's inconsistency after the current tour of South Africa. "If they don't have the talent, one can understand they are trying and it's not happening. But they definitely have the talent - we have immense talent," Dalmiya said. "The Board is willing to offer all support. I don't know what is happening ... why the performance is not coming up." Dalmiya said that he wanted to meet with Wright as soon as he returned from South Africa. "We will go into the depth of the problem. We have to find the missing link," he said. "There seems to be no consistency in the team's performance. That consistency has to come in." Wright has already had to justify himself to Dalmiya. Last month he had to produce a written explanation for recent poor performances, as well as account for the spate of injuries suffered by players.
