Nasser Hussain and his inexperienced England team will study Australia's performances in India in a bid to go one better than the world champions against Sourav Ganguly's side.

Australia lost a close-fought series 2-1 as they fell victim to offspinner Harbhajan Singh earlier this year. Hussain said that he hoped his side could field as well as Steve Waugh's men while learning from their batting mistakes.

"It will be crucial to get the cricketing things right," Hussain told reporters on the eve of England's opening two-day match against a Bombay President's XI.

"It'll mean taking every catch, fielding like the Australians. But the most important thing out of all that is to get runs in the first innings."

Australia won the first Test of their three-match series before tumbling to defeat, with Singh capturing 32 wickets in all.

Hussain said his squad would study videos of the India-Australia series, adding: "We will know how successful players played [spin]."

Hussain said a good start by the touring sides could be crucial.

"Quite a few people have been writing us off 3-0... If this inexperienced side does well then the pressure will be on India not us.

"We can't overdo the mind games. The cricket is more than important. The mind game is just 2%. The cricket and the technique is 98%."
