In their second innings, the New Zealand Academy team were 111/3 at the close of play on day two. A further 147 runs were added to their overnight total today before being dismissed by the State Auckland Aces for 258. Batting for the New Zealand Academy team, Auckland representatives Nick Horsley (67) and Reece Young (45) provided the strongest resistance to the State Auckland Aces attack. Adams (4-45) and Mark Haslam (4-60) were the leading wicket takers for the State Aces. Openers Matt Horne and Tim McIntosh sealed victory for the State Auckland Aces reaching 26/0 at the close of the match.

"This was a positive performance for the first competitive outing for the season. One of the main objectives for the week is to place the squad members under some stress in trying to simulate the conditions of first-class cricket. The players really had to lift themselves after completing the Auckland Half Marathon on Sunday", said State Auckland Aces Coach, Tony Sail.

The State Auckland Aces will now play the New Zealand Academy team in a 50-over match at Lincoln Green tomorrow.
