Soshanguve learner Thomas Masuku of the Amogelang Secondary School has won great prizes for himself and his school in the 2001 UCBSA "Cricket's My Game" Competition in the Schoolmedia High School Diary.

Thomas received R5000 in a Standard Bank account, an MTN Pay-As-You-Go phone kit, MTN cricket equipment, a Bakers gift hamper and four tickets to a day of any cricket match played in South Africa. For his school, Thomas won R5000, MTN cricket equipment, Bakers Biscuit hampers and 50 tickets to any day of a domestic cricket match in South Africa.

In addition to the prizes Thomas won for himself and his school, 20 other children also won R1000 in a Standard Bank account, an MTN cricket bat, a gift hamper sponsored by MTN, Standard Bank, Bakers and Coca-Cola, a Bakers Biscuit hamper and four tickets to any day of a domestic cricket match in South Africa.

Thomas was drawn as the winner after answering correctly all 40 questions in the UCB "Cricket's My Game" High School Diary Competition. The competition involves learners answering a cricket-related question a week during the school year, with the questions being included in their Schoolmedia diary. The diary is distributed to 500 000 learners in disadvantaged urban and peri-urban schools around the country. It has been given free to children for nine years and is supported by the UCB and cricket's sponsors because it fits in with the UCB's drive to take cricket to the whole nation.
