Rick Pickard, longstanding Convener of Selectors for the State Northern Knights, today resigned from his position to take up a career opportunity in education based in the Cook Islands.

Pickard's involvement as a selector began with Counties Manukau in 1984. From there he began a long association with Northern Districts Cricket before being appointed to the selection panel for New Zealand. On his resignation from this position he renewed his association with Northern Districts.

"Rick had an immense passion for the game and achieved excellent results," remarked Chief Executive of Northern Districts Cricket John Turkington, "and while he will be missed, we wish him all the best in his new position."

Northern Districts Cricket is looking at options as a replacement for Pickard. In the meantime Operations Manager Pat Malcon will assume the role.
