Bond and Tuffey named in CLEAR Black Caps side to play second Test against Australia
New Zealand Cricket - 21 November 2001

Debutant pace bowler Shane Bond and fast-medium bowler Daryl Tuffey have been named in the CLEAR Black Caps side to contest the second Test against Australia in Hobart starting tomorrow.

The pair are the only changes to the CLEAR Black Caps first Test side that drew with Australia in Brisbane.

The CLEAR Black Caps team is:

Stephen Fleming (captain)
Nathan Astle
Matthew Bell
Shane Bond
Chris Cairns
Craig McMillan
Adam Parore
Mark Richardson
Mathew Sinclair
Daryl Tuffey
Daniel Vettori

According to coach, Denis Aberhart, Tuffey's ability to swing the ball and Bond's extra pace gave them the edge over fast-medium bowler Chris Martin, who was also vying for a spot in the side to play the second Test.

"It was a difficult choice to make because all three bowled well against South Australia, although Chris didn't have much luck.

"However Daryl's shown us he's found his rhythm and is swinging the ball nicely and Shane's definitely got that extra bit of zip which tends to hurry batsmen up.

"We feel the combination of the two gives our bowling attack the best balance for this Test match," he said.
