The first Centurion five-for
Wisden CricInfo staff - October 10, 2001

Shaun Pollock took 5 for 37, the best bowling figures in a one-dayer at Centurion. The record was previously held by Allan Donald, who took 4 for 37 against Zimbabwe in 1996-97. Pollock also became the 16th bowler, and the second South African after Allan Donald, to take 200 wickets in one-day internationals. He was playing in his 138th match.

Pollock's five-for was the fourth by a South African in one-day matches against India. The others are: Allan Donald (5 for 29 at Calcutta in 1991-92), Hansie Cronje (5 for 32 at Cape Town in 1992-93) and Lance Klusener (5 for 42 at Bloemfontein in 1996-97). This was the 40th match between the sides.

Sourav Ganguly became the sixth batsman to hit 100 sixes in one-day internationals, after Sanath Jayasuriya, Viv Richards, Sachin Tendulkar, Wasim Akram and Shahid Afridi. Jayasuriya holds the record with 145. Ganguly was playing in his 176th match.

When he reached 24, Rahul Dravid became the fifth Indian -- after Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly and Ajay Jadeja -- to make 5000 one-day runs. He was playing in his 158th match.

South Africa's total of 192 was their lowest in one-day internationals at Centurion. Their previous lowest was 198 for 9 against Pakistan in 1992-93.

Harbhajan Singh took 3 for 27, his best bowling figures in ODIs, surpassing the 3 for 29 he took against Sri Lanka in Colombo in July 2001. He was playing in his 30th match.

In his 98th match, Mark Boucher became the 12th South African to make 1000 one-day runs when he reached 13.
