• This is Kenya's eighth win in their 41 one-day internationals, but only the third time they have beaten major opposition. Their five other ODI wins all came at the expense of fellow minnows Bangladesh. • In 1996 Kenya caused one of the most memorable cricketing upsets, beating West Indies by 73 runs in the World Cup. Their other victory over major opposition came against India, who they beat by 69 runs at Gwalior in 1997-98.

• It is over two years since Kenya last won a one-day international. Their most recent victory before today was in March 1999, when they beat Bangladesh by 73 runs.

• Kennedy Obuya and Ravindu Shah added 121 for the first wicket, only Kenya's second century opening partnership in 40 one-dayers. Their highest is 225, made by Obuya and Dipak Chudasama against Bangladesh at Nairobi in 1997-98, which at the time was the highest opening partnership by any country in ODIs. But this is the first time Kenya's openers have reached three figures against current Test opposition -- their previous-highest was 76, made by Shah and David Obuya against West Indies at Nairobi in August.
